Just an update on this for any potential forum members searching this issue in the future. The car is now fixed and running, I had to replace the high pressure fuel pump (along with new timing belt and tensioner ofcourse) and all 6 injectors. I flushed all the fuel lines in the engine bay including the fuel rails, and replaced the fuel filter. 124K subscribers Subscribe 7 417 views 1 year ago Do you need to Replace the fuel filter the Jaguar X-Type 2001 to 2011 but don't know where to start? This video tutorial shows you One more thing about fuel pressure…the Good Book says that when testing fuel pressure, a gauge is inserted at the cold start supply pipe. Reading must be: 2.55 plus or minus 0.05 Kgf/cm squared or 36.25 plus or minus Lbf/inches squared It also says “Pressure reading may drop slowly through either the regulator valve seating or pump NON_RETURN valve. (that’s a good one, returning through
The water-in-fuel sensor is located on the underside of the fuel filter. Easy to access. The fuel filter is located in the engine bay, left hand side, near to the bulkhead. There's 4 pipes on the top of it. The assembly is held in place by a single clamp, release the bolt a few turns and you'll be able to lift the filter a bit for access to the
I recently changed my diesel S type fuel filter, the only problem I had was priming it afterwards.( The car was cranked about three times before it ran ok) I later found out take the exit pipe off, then put a length of pipe on the filter and bleed,by turning the ignition on,into a jar or old milk container, easier with help than on your own
It could be it needed the tune up or it may have a bad fuel pump or a plugged cat or a bad ingtion coil so after the tuneup ask the guys to do a fuel pressure test also in the tune up tell them to replace fuel and air filter. Also doing a top engine clean would be a good ideal as you will have carbon build up causing the compression ratio to go to high and cause the car not to be able to RVze4m.
